Maximum Rollover
Your dental plan’s benefits go further with Maximum Rollover. You can save unspent benefit dollars for use in future years, which can help with the cost of unexpected procedures.
Maximum Rollover is included in many of our BlueDental PPO plans (it’s not included in BlueDental CareSM plans since they don’t have an annual maximum). Check your policy or Florida Blue account to see if your plan includes this valuable benefit.
Your benefit dollars can add up
With Maximum Rollover, the portion of unused benefit dollars that are “rolled over” provides you with additional coverage, which increases the value of your plan. There is a standard you can roll over, which is based on your plan’s annual maximum. Your total claims paid during the calendar year must not exceed the payment threshold, which varies by plan (see chart below):

Here’s an example based on an annual plan maximum of $1,000
If you use less than $500 of your plan’s annual maximum, a $350 rollover amount will be applied the following year
In year two, your total benefit is now your $1,000 annual maximum + the $350 rolled over from the previous year, or $1,350
If you quality again in year three, your benefit level rises to $1,700 ($1,350 + the $350 rolled over from the previous year)
Your $1,000 annual plan maximum can potentially double to $2,000
Eligibility
To earn rollover dollars, you must be an active member with an eligible plan on the last day of the calendar year and receive at least one covered service, such as a routine cleaning, during the year.

Emergency dental care—whenever and wherever you need it
BlueDental PPO and Florida Blue Medicare plans now include a convenient option for emergency dental care—at no cost.
Emergency rooms are not typically equipped to handle dental emergencies. If you have a serious and/or painful dental issue and can’t contact your dentist, you have 24/7 access to a TeleDentistry.com dentist whether you’re close to home or anywhere in the U.S. A licensed dentist will write prescriptions (if necessary) or refer you to a participating dentist near you or your regular dentist for further care as needed.
These virtual visits are helpful if you have a dental emergency but don’t have a dentist, need to consult with a dentist without leaving your home, or have a dental emergency while away from home. Members can receive up to two virtual visits per calendar year at no cost that don’t count toward the plan’s annual maximum.

Cosmetic and Orthodontic Discounts

Discounts offered by participating providers in our orthodontic or cosmetic networks are included in our BlueDental ChoiceSM, BlueDental ChoiceSM Plus, and BlueDental ChoiceSM Copayment PPO plans.
Orthodontic discounts
Our orthodontic discount program offers a 20% discount when you choose a provider in our orthodontic discount network. Orthodontic services include treatments that correct the alignment of teeth and jaws.

Cosmetic dental discounts
If your teeth are discolored, worn, chipped, or broken, cosmetic dentistry procedures help improve the appearance of your smile. You’ll save 20% on the following general or restorative services:
Cosmetic contouring
Laminate veneer (porcelain or composite)
Whitening (in-office or at-home system)
Implant/abutment/crown

Certain dentists have voluntarily agreed to offer a 20% discount off their usual charge for noncovered cosmetic or orthodontic services. These dentists are identified by an affiliation to either the Cosmetic Dental Discount Program or Orthodontic Discount Program. Because these dentists are neither contractually nor legally bound to offer these discounts, we recommend that you contact the provider to inquire about the continued availability of any discount prior to scheduling an appointment. The 20% discount does not apply if coverage for orthodontia or implants is included in your dental benefit plan.
BlueDental Loyalty
Our BlueDental PPO plans come with perks. If you’re over 18 and you have an individual BlueDental ChoiceSM or Copayment plan (a plan you purchased yourself and not through an employer), our BlueDental Loyalty program provides you with extra services after reaching membership milestones, beginning at just six months. These include an exclusive customer service phone number and additional cleanings to help you have a brighter, healthier smile.
Regular dental cleanings can help prevent tooth decay (and loss), gum disease, and bad breath. They are also the best way to remove plaque (the thin film that accumulates on your teeth after eating and drinking) and tartar (what forms when dental plaque builds up and hardens), which can lead to bigger problems if not removed. Once plaque hardens into tartar, only a dentist or dental hygienist can remove it.

The additional cleanings you get through BlueDental Loyalty are not subject to annual maximums, deductibles, coinsurance, or copayments when you visit a participating dentist. If you get a cleaning through an out-of-network dentist, coinsurance will apply. If you’re also enrolled in our Oral Health for Overall HealthSM program, you can receive up to four cleanings per calendar year.
